Joe Schobert, JC Tretter among the NFL’s biggest Pro Bowl snubs
When Pro Bowl rosters are announced, one of the natural inclinations is to look and see which players were snubbed from the lists. For the 2020 Pro Bowl, two Cleveland Browns in particular stand out as snubs from the rosters announced on Tuesday night.
Linebacker Joe Schobert and center JC Tretter absolutely belong in the annual exhibition honor. Schobert and Tretter should be joining Browns teammates Jarvis Landry and Nick Chubb as Pro Bowl teammates.
Schobert especially stands out. A Pro Bowler after the 2017 season, Schobert is having a significantly more impactful season this year. His four INTs, nine PDs and 6 TFLs through 14 games all surpass his numbers from his Pro Bowl year. Schobert appears on several “top snub” lists, including this one from NFL.com.
At least Schobert made it to the alternate list. Tretter didn’t even get that designation, a major disappointment for the veteran pivot. While interior offensive line play can be difficult to quantify, anyone can see how well Tretter has played in 2019.
Rookie punter Jamie Gillan will likely get some mention as a snub. He’s certainly worthy of inclusion, but not nearly as egregious of an omission as Schobert or Tretter.
